The : cómo e quando usa ( ou não)



The Significa o, a, os e as

Não se usa para falar dos casos em geral. Compare
Um cachorro é um mamífero. A dog is a mammal.
Os gatos são felinos.Cats are felines.
(Qualquer) Uma muhler está melhor hoje do que no ano 1900. A woman is better off today than in 1900.
Muhleres vivem máis do que os homens. Women live longer than men.

Não se usa com as refeições diárias .
What time is lunch?  Qué hora se almorça?
They had dinner at 9  Jantaram a las 9. I don't have breakfast. Eu nao tomo café da manhá.

Não se usa com as horas
São as dos horas. It is 2 o’ clock  Ela acordou às  7. She got up at 7.

Pode-se usar em casos concretos.
Durante o almoço de trabahlo os dois presidentes discutiram muito.

No se usa con work home ni church

a) É usado  quando falar de algo concreto.

b) É usado  quando só tem uma coisa:
The most expensive car in the world . O carro mais caro do mundo.
Madrid is the capital of Spain. Madrid é a capital da España.

c) É usado com  o mar the sea o céu the sky o chao the ground o campo the countryside
Look at the stars in the sky. Olha para as estrelas do céu.
Mas é usado sem the : go to sea ir ao mar.

Espaço do céu é usado sem the , o de um parking sim.

d)     É usado com the cinema, the theatre, the radio, television
di)   Turn off the television. Desliga a televisão. I saw the news sit on TV Vi a noticia na TV.

c) É usado com  um adjectivo o gentilicio para englobar a um grupo, em plural.
the rich os ricos          the poor os pobres      the blind os cegos       the dead os mortos

The Americans os americanos the Spanish    os espanhóis  the French. os franceses

Para usar em singular, exemplo, o irlandés, você term que adicionar alguma coisa = the Irish man, the Chinese car, the Brazilan one. O (homem) irlandés, o (carro) chinese, o/a   (o que for)  brasileiro/brasileira.

Did she like the Brazilian coffee? No, she liked more the Colombian one.~ Ela gostou do café brasileiro? Não, gostou mais do colombiano.
